Summer joins Knights of Badassdom
And the names just keep on coming for Joe Lynch’s upcoming horror/comedy/thriller Knights of Badassdom, and when we think badass chick, this latest addition more than fits the bill!
According to website Bleeding Cool Summer Glau has just signed up to join the previously announced Peter Dinklage, Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, and Danny Pudi in the flick, which follows the exploits of a group of LARPers (Live Action Role Players) who accidentally release a big badass demon.
Spectral Motion, who created creatures and mutants for the Hellboy and X-Men franchises, will be handling the special effects duty so expect a lot from the plethora of demonic minions that are set to be unleashed.
Lynch will be shooting from a script penned by Kevin Dreyfuss and Matt Wall. Knights of Badassdom begins filming this July in Spokane, Washington.

NBC picks up The Cape
Yes! This is awesome, I wish I could make the headline bigger. NBC has picked up The Cape. Summer Glau’s new show has been picked up!
NBC is going to look very different next season. The network has added another single-cam comedy to the pile: “Friends With Benefits” from 20th TV and Imagine and has given a series order to superhero drama “The Cape.”

NBC president talks about The Cape
THR: You air your genre shows on Mondays. Do you think that will continue next season with “Event”?
Bromstad: We have another genre piece in contention, and we have “Chuck.” We’re going to hash out the schedule over the next week.
THR: The other genre show you’re referring to is “The Cape.” I heard that came in strong, too.
Bromstad: It looks fantastic. We just saw it with special effects today. It’s closed-ended, and the hero catches the bad guy every week. Decisions are still outstanding, though, because we haven’t gotten back our testing yet.

Summer Glau: The undying devotion of Whedonverse fans is remarkable

Summer Glau probably had no idea at the time but a 2002 guest spot on “Angel” was about to ignite her career in the most magical way. Drawn to the allure she always exudes on screen, Joss Whedon crafted a role in his next series with Summer in mind. That show was “Firefly,” the character was River Tam and the rest is history.
Although the space-opera lasted only eleven episodes it didn’t matter — the world and people that populated Serenity’s decks were forever etched onto the hearts of Whedon-fans the world over. Since then Summer has hopped from sci-fi project to project, but this Sunday marks her first major foray outside the genre walls.
In Lifetime Movie Network’s “Deadly Honeymoon” Summer plays Lindsay Forrest, a newlywed whose husband mysterious disappears on their honeymoon cruise. But when the investigation turns up some mysterious evidence, it’s revealed that the blushing bride might not be as innocent as she seems. It’s a classic LMN movie and one of the reasons Summer came on board.
I chatted with the delightful actress (in my unending quest to interview everyone who has delivered Joss-speak) about her first Hollywood wedding, what it means to be a part of the Whedonverse and what that long rumored “Sarah Connor Chronicle” wrap-up movie could be about!
Lifetime Movies are somewhat iconic, was playing one of their heroine’s part of the appeal?
I have loved Lifetime since I was a little girl and those performances have stuck with me throughout my work as an actress. I’ve always dreamed of getting to tackle one myself. When this script came to me I had to jump on it.

Summer Glau: From ‘Borg to Bride to ‘Cape’ Crusader

This Sunday, Lifetime Movie Network invites you to tag along on a ‘Deadly Honeymoon,’ during which a couple’s newlywed nirvana is turned into a nightmare when the groom (’The O.C.’s Chris Carmack) goes missing aboard a cruise ship. Summer Glau, who stars as the soon-suspected bride, revealed what she found creepy about the story, reflected on her ‘Terminator’ and ‘Firefly’ runs, and gave us a peek at the geeky-cool new pilot she just filmed.
The opening scenes of ‘Deadly Honeymoon’ are set at a beach wedding. Was that your first time ever donning a wedding dress?
Yes.… [Laughs]
How did it feel? Did you get all girly?
[Sheepish] I’m afraid so! It was really fun. I got to be married in Hawaii, in a beautiful dress… and then everything went terribly wrong.
Having done this TV-movie, have you ruled out a honeymoon cruise for when your day comes?
It’s not my first choice, no! I’ve heard a lot of stories since making that movie. “Well, there was this one time when so-and-so disappeared….” It’s kind of scary

The Cape: “Very likely to air as series”
The Cape, a pilot for NBC, is allegedly one of the more [sic] expensive ever made and thus very likely to air as a series. It’s about a framed-for-murder ex-cop (David Lyons) who becomes a “costumed crime fighter to clear his name.” His exploits are chronicled by a blogger, played by one Summer Glau, one of the most famous young women in the sci-fi geek world – from Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse.
